Sarah's Group's story
Sarah's group is comprised of 2 hard working women. Sarah is 23 years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Kiyinda region of Uganda. She is married and has 2 children with 1 of them currently in school. For the past 2 years, Sarah has been working hard to manage her Farming & Poultry, which sells coffee and poultry products. To help expand her business, Sarah has requested a share of 1,800,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to stock more coffee,chicken feeds and more chicks so as to boost business, and will help Sarah to generate greater profits and higher profits from expanded business will enable Sarah afford basic needs of life, improve her standards of living and cater for her children as well, in the same line pay the respective school dues. . Sarah hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a plot of land and build a family house. Sarah is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
