Makereta's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy building materials for a seafood market stall and a chest freezer.

Makereta's story

Along the banks and estuarine shoreline of Natalecake village, lie dozens of communities and villages steeped in the salt, beaten by the sand, and grounded in generations of fishing.

Fishing has been a livelihood for Makereta and her family. Due to the huge local demand for seafood, particularly freshwater fish, sea grapes, sea cucumbers and freshwater mussels, Makereta is willing to supply them to her nearby neighbours, passers-by and also reach out for sales on an order basis.

She is requesting a loan of 3,000 FJD to build a separate seafood market stall near the main road and also purchase a big chest freezer to store her products.

She is determined that her business will thrive and the profits earned will be a big boost to the family.
