A loan helped To purchase a dairy cow.
Seminia Irayda's story
Seminia is 26 years old and has been married for 10 years. She and her husband have two children, ages 8 and 3 years old. Seminia is a cattle farmer. She has 8 dairy cows that produce raw milk. Seminia turns the milk into soft cheese and yogurt, which she sells every day in the market beginning at 6 a.m. She learned dairy cow farming by helping her mother when she was a young girl. She lives at home with her mother in the Maica Central area of the city of Cochabamba. Seminia married very young, so she had to begin working from a young age to support her new family. Because her family has scarce economic resources, they do not yet have their own home. With this loan from CIDRE, Seminia will purchase another dairy cow. This will increase her milk production and improve her earnings and, ultimately, improve her family's quality of life. She dreams that some day her children will finish their primary and secondary education and that they can go on to become professionals.
