Long before the restaurant opened, I made the journey to the island of Oahu from the village of Tula in American Samoa to help support my older brother while he attended the University of Hawai’i. In the true Fa’a Samoa fashion my older brother attended classes full time while I went to work in heavy equipment and construction and supported us both. And in the true aloha spirit, it was on the shores of Waikiki where I met my wife Kitty. For many Pacific Islanders, Hawai’i is often the place where we land before making the trek stateside and when the opportunity arose, Kitty, who worked for insurance giant AIG, accepted a position in the Bay Area which transferred her and the family the continental US. On arriving from Hawai’I the family started their lives in the states in the Sobrante Park neighborhood in East Oakland. We have since then moved to Hayward California where we own a home, helping to raise our grandchildren and have been in restaurant/catering business for the last 20 years. This is our retirement gig and it's a business that we are able to express our love for humanity.
