Yuni's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to invest in a bulk purchase of silk and batik cloth.

Yuni's story

Yuni, shown here with her three children, is an artisan from Indonesia who specializes in silk batik shawls and scarves. She would like to invest in a bulk purchase of silk and batik cloth.

Yuni has been selling through NOVICA since 2006. This is her story:

Yuni learned the art of batik when she was very young from her mother. "She had been making batik at home in Java for over 23 years, while waiting each day for my father to come home from the sea. We still design together, especially the floral and bird motifs that are typical in Pekalongan batik. My husband, Rieckey, also helps me a lot, but as a local Balinese woman, I'm very proud of the fact that I can have the career that I love, and to be able to provide for myself and my family."

"Silk is becoming difficult to find, and the prices are unstable. I really need capital to buy silk and batik materials in bulk. I am deeply grateful to all of you who support me and my workshop."
