A loan helped to purchase more palm oil and native rice to increase her business.

Aminata's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone.

This is 33-year-old Aminata from Waterloo. She is married with 2 children between the ages of 1 year to 10 years. One of her children is currently attending school.

Aminata established palm oil business. Palm oil is red in color and is the corner stone of Sierra Leonean cuisine. It is used as the base for spicy stews. Good quality oil is said to be high in antioxidants. The oil is usually sold in yellow plastic cans. Borrowers like Aminata save money when they buy their oil in bulk.

She has been running this business since 2014. Her other source of income is from her husband who is also a trader.

Aminata requested this loan from BRAC to purchase more palm oil and native rice to increase her business. Her main challenge to the business is the poor road network and transportation of goods.

She says that the extra income from this loan will help her to educate and take care of her children. In the future, she plans to expand her business into a bigger one.

She thanks you for your support.
