A loan helped to buy organic manure to plant corn and ensure the productivity of her land.

Pacpani Centro Group's story

Leonarda is 55 years old and married. Her 2 children are adults and independent. She has a business growing corn. She works in the rural area of Punata, blanketed with green vegetation and surrounded by multi-coloured fields.

The need to improve her income led her to form a group of corn and dairy farmers to request a loan to improve their businesses. Leonarda (far right, wearing a white shirt) and her family live in their own home, where they have half a hectare of farm land where they grow corn. All of the work is done by hand and she does it with the help of shovels, picks, and a pair of oxen who pull the plow. She sells the harvest at the local market and keeps a part of it to sell at a higher price during the high demand season. In order to improve her production, she needs to fertilize the fields.

The advantage of her business is that she sells her entire harvest, and her challenge is preparing the land. Her dream is to build a stable to keep livestock in. She wants to prepare the land for planting. This is her first loan from the institution in the 30 years that she has been working independently.

For these reasons, Leonarda is requesting a loan to buy organic manure to plant corn and ensure the productivity of her land.
