Decontee's story

This is 36 year old Decontee. She is a married woman with 3 children; they live at home while in school.

Decontee is a high school graduate. In order to help her husband with daily expenses in the home, she runs a business in a shop selling soft drinks, water, candles, bread and other items. She has been operating this business since four years ago.

She started this business with her own money. She uses a taxi to transport supplies to her business site. Decontee sells 6 days a week and 10 hours per day. She likes her business because sales are profitable, and she is proud of her business because it enables her to provide essential items for the home.

To add to her business, Decontee requires a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva field partner. The loan will be used to buy more soft drinks, water, candles, bread and other items to sell in order to repay the loan and increase her profits.

In the future, Decontee would like to build her store and continue her children's education until college. She wishes to say thanks.
