Felecia's story

Felecia is 39 years old. She is a married woman with two children aged 18 and 20 years. Both of her children live at home while in school. Felecia attended school until the 10th grade. In order to help her husband with daily expenses for the home, she runs a provision shop and also sells cooked food.

She started the business with some earnings from her husband, and her mother taught her the trade. She has been progressing in this business for seven years now and considers herself a hardworking businesswoman. She transports supplies to her business site by car.

Felecia begins her business at 6:00 am and works until 8:00 pm. Her business is growing well. She likes her business because it gives her money and provides her family with daily meals. To increase business, Felecia has asked for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a KIVA field partner, to buy more provisions for her shop and ingredients that will be used to prepare cooked food to sell. In the future she dreams of opening a restaurant and giving her children a quality education. She is grateful for the help.
