Fatou's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for fresh fish to resell and some sheep to raise.

Fatou's Group's story

This group of seven women is part of the 'banc villageois' which has been in existence since November 2009. The women live in the same village and get along nicely together. Already, they have paid back over ten loans without a problem. Their main work involves commerce.

Ms. Fatou, aged 52, is the group’s official. Standing at the right in the photo with a hand raised, she is the married mother of five children: three boys and two girls.

Fatou runs a small-scale business involving fresh fish, and at the same time she raises sheep. With over ten years of experience, she has been able to save money in order to have an ample loan for developing her businesses. She purchases fresh fish at the local town market and raises livestock at home.

With this loan, she envisions purchasing 2 cases of fresh fish and 6 sheep. Although others have businesses like hers, she manages to sell her products easily. The profits obtained will be used to meet personal needs and those of her children, as well as to put toward her savings at the 'banc villageois’.
