Daniel's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a van to help local Rwandan guides reach their tour sites.

Daniel's story

Daniel is part of a freelance tour guide cooperative for visitors to the beautiful Akagera National Park. Tours can include watching vervet monkeys by morning, eating delicious Rwandan-style rice and beans for lunch, and a boat trip over the sunset by afternoon. A native to the Akagera region, Daniel’s local expertise has contributed to the high demand for guide services in the park. During the peak season, Daniel and 25 other trained tour guides in the cooperative offer a reputable nature and cultural experience to visitors from all over the world. The high demand for tours has placed strains on coordinating staff transportation from tour to tour. With a new van, ACOFREGCO (Akagera Community Freeland Guides Cooperative) will be able to transport staff more efficiently, thus serving more visitors with greater flexibility. Daniel and his cooperative members are in a ripe industry, as the tourism sector makes up over 30% of Rwandan GDP, a number that’s expected to grow. An additional van will allow the cooperative members to focus on what they do best, giving great tours. Investing in Daniel impacts the lives of 25 local staff, their families, and the surrounding communities.
