Mary's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers to improve her production and generate more income to elevate the quality of life for her family.

Mary's story

Every morning when Mary wakes up, she is welcomed by the fragrance of the beautiful flowering crops in her backyard. This makes her feel accomplished and makes her want to continue to invest in farming. Eight years ago, Mary decided to turn her passion into a business venture and she has continued to enjoy the fruits of her wise decision. Mary learned the art of farming from her parents as she was growing up. She has always loved farming, especially milking her cows.

Access to modern-quality farm inputs is the pillar of the agricultural revolution. However, in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizer and seed allocation by the government is way below the needs of farmers. Since Juhudi Kilimo, which is in partnership with Kiva, ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement in the availability of inputs.

Mary has applied for this loan in order to buy farm inputs such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers to improve her production and generate more income to elevate the quality of life for her family. Mary is a determined woman with an achievable goal, which is to boost her crop production above the level of the previous year. All of this can be achieved with the help and goodwill of lenders. Mary really appreciates your help and understanding.
