A loan helped Move us out of a shared space and a storage warehouse into our own shop with 3 phase power where we can power up our CNC lathe, get organized, and make more great parts.
I've always been a maker. Growing up in Spotsylvania, VA, some of my fondest memories are playing with LEGO, building school projects with my dad, and learning about web development with my mom. As a teenager, I took up model aircraft, model trains, and ham radio as hobbies. Of course, these are fairly expensive hobbies, so in all cases I found ways to make enough to fund them, whether it was working on my grandparent's farm, selling hand-painted plaster scenery at model train shows, buying, repairing, and reselling radio equipment, or starting an aerial photography business with my RC planes, I always found a way. I left home for college, studying Unmanned Aircraft Systems (later switched to Mechanical Engineering) at Embry-Riddle, but I ended up stuck between a rock and a hard place about a year later. Due to a family situation (which prevented me from moving back home or transferring somewhere more affordable), I either had to put school on hold or rack up student loan debt. I opted for the former, and picked up a job at a hobby shop until I figured out what to do. Some time later, I got sick of working retail and my girlfriend Katie and I started P3D Creations to make ends meet, with the dream of applying our engineering knowledge to create a sustainable manufacturing business. 3 years of hard work (and a bit of luck!) later, and it looks like we might just pull it off- We just need a bit of help to make it to the next step. I'm hoping to go back and finish my mechanical engineering degree eventually, but I'm determined to pay for it out of pocket with money I've made through hard work, determination, and a love of manufacturing.
