Juana Elizabeth's story

The city of Portoviejo, known as the home of the Reales Tamarindos team, was affected by the April 16, 2016, earthquake. It is located in the Portoviejo River valley. Production of greens, vegetables, and tropical fruits for local consumption is high.

Juana is 42 years old, in a civil union, and has two grown, independent children and one 14 year old child who attends school. Her husband is a master bricklayer. Juana, along with her husband, raises and sells pigs. He goes to the countryside to buy the pigs and then raises them in their home. Two times per week they sell meat, bones, hide, and all that they can sell from the pigs to people and acquaintances from the area. They have steady customers who buy from them because they have good products. With this new loan she will buy live pigs. Her dream is to have a pig farm and that her business continues growing.
