A loan helped to buy a cow.

Noong Luong 118 Group's story

Nam, 49, is a Thai ethnic woman who lives alone in a small house in Vietnam's northwest mountainous area where agriculture is the main income-generating activity of the locals. Like other villagers, Nam works very hard at farming and breeding with several activities such as growing rice and corn, and raising pigs, chickens, and fish. Besides, she works as a nurse in her village. This time she has taken out a loan from the Anh Chi Em program to buy a cow. She hopes that cow will give her baby cows to sell in the future when the cow becomes an adult. Her life lacks both moral and material support, so she wants to create savings to use when she is old or sick. Although there are difficulties, she finds happiness in her jobs (helping people in her village, talking with other people in the field). She dreams that she will always be full of happiness and health. In the picture, she stands at the first from the right.
