Diana's Group's story

Diana's group is comprised of 3 hard working women. Diana is 22-years-old and lives in the town of Bulenga in the Kiyinda region of Uganda. For the past 3 years, Diana has been working hard to manage her restaurant, which sells cooked food.

To help expand her business, Diana has requested a share of 3,100,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more sauce pans for the business, and will help Diana to generate greater profits and higher profits will be realized from the expanded business.

Diana will also be in position to to buy more basic needs at home and also improve her standards of living in the short run and also take care of her siblings as well. She hopes that in the future she will be able to to buy land and build a house with business premise provision to operate efficiently.



Diana is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
