Rocio's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped me increase my business by purchasing new inventory for the store as well for marketing investments for updating my logo/sign outside the storefront.

Rocio's story

My name is Rocio Navarro I was born in Mexico brought to California when I was 4 years old I grew up in Oakland, CA. I have 2 kids, a 15 years old and a 11 year old. I am currently pregnant, due in September and my kids are my motivation to be my own boss. I stopped high school because I was pregnant of my first child when I was 17 years old. For 10 years I worked hard to support my family. I was with a temp agency that would find me different jobs even though I was working as a temp I was always given supervisor positions because I was bilingual. My last position was as a supervisor at a janitorial company. I developed carpal tunnel syndrome and it was physically very difficult for me to continue. I also hated the job and realized I was ready for a change so I decided to become my own boss as I was ready to open my own store. In the past year I opened 3 shops that have goods from Mexico here in the Fruitvale. One store I am passing on to a fellow business woman to manage. The other two I will continue to manage myself. I am so happy to be my own boss I even had time to finish my GED.
