Mujeres De Maria Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped buy more corn to increase her business.

Mujeres De Maria Group's story

The 8 women of the Trust Bank "Mujeres De María" live in the department/state of Sololá. The women speak the Kaqchikel and are beginning their 4th loan cycle with Kiva. The women of the group have businesses doing artisanal and selling chickens, avocado, meat per pound, and traditional Guatemalan foods.

Dina is 25 years old and only attended school for 8 years. She is married and has a 4-year-old girl who will attend school in the future. She sells corn both in the market and from her house. She is going to buy more corn to increase her business with this loan. Dina is grateful to be able to improve her life through her loan but also through learning valuable savings and investment skills she utilizes for her family’s future because of the “Microcredit Plus” program.

The "Mujeres De María" are part of the "Microcredit Plus" program of Friendship Bridge that provides microcredits, non-formal education, and health services to more than 28,000 women in Guatemala. Each month, Dina and her classmates have a meeting where they make their payments and do activities to learn about family, health, business, and women's issues. These themes are designed to improve the lives of Guatemalan women like Dina so they can empower themselves to keep long term change in their lives.

Thank you very much! It is due to the generosity of Kiva's lenders that Dina can create a sustainable future for her daughter.
