A loan helped to buy farming inputs and start horticultural farming to make more profits and improve her standards of living.

Roselyne's story

When you visit Kenya, you will notice that there are variations between those living in urban areas and those in rural areas, especially in terms of access to electricity and safe drinking water. Roselyne is a rural farmer who has encountered many hurdles, having been farming for more than 10 years. She has, however, always had the strength to overcome them and move forward with her children.

She is one of the most hardworking women in her village, which is in the Eldoret region of Kenya. Roselyne is contented with the farming way of life. Her primary sources of income are crops and animal rearing. A very enterprising woman who has had neither formal education nor formal employment, she has always worked hard on her farm and assured her children and family of a decent meal.

The Eldoret area has favorable conditions for horticulture farming. This is why Roselyne is seeking a loan for farm inputs to start horticulture farming. Because of good roads, a good transportation network and a good climate for this type of farming, Roselyne is sure that she will reap maximum profits and be able to increase her business. Being a woman and accessing funds in Eldoret is very challenging, but Roselyne feels relieved knowing that there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like her. Please lend to Roselyne!
