Matilda's story

Matilda is a 39-year-old single mother of six children. She lives with her family in a rural community outside Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands.

Being the only one supporting her six children, Matilda finds it very difficult sometimes and to help her meet her family's needs. She runs a small general store business in her community selling food items such as biscuits, canned foods, noodles and rice to earn income.

Matilda has requested a loan to pay for a small deep freezer, ice blocks, canned foods, and biscuits, to assist her in maintaining her business.

Matilda hopes to use her profits to support her children and pay for their school fees. She joined SPBD in 2016 to gain access to financial services for her business.
