Fatime's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy a dairy cow to replace the one that unfortunately drowned during a flood last month.

Fatime's story

Fatime is in her early sixties and a married mother of two. She lives with her husband in a village in Albania. Her husband and she are both retirees, and their total monthly retirement pension is 160.50 USD, which is not even enough to cover the expenses for their medications.

For the past twenty-something years Fatime and her husband have farmed their land. They own about six dunams (about one and a half acres) and rent ten more from other villagers. They pay 121.70 USD a year for the rent of the land, upon which they grow wheat and fodder. She uses the wheat for the family's consumption and the fodder for their two dairy cows. Last year she made a profit of 1,300 USD from the raw milk and 900 USD from two baby calves.

Unfortunately, last month the dairy cow Fatime bought with Kiva lenders’ support a year ago drowned during a flood. She has now applied for a 100,000 ALL loan to buy a cow to replace the drowned one.

Fatime really hopes for your support one more time to buy a second dairy cow, because with milk from only one cow she won’t be able to pay for all of her family’s expenses.
