Zainab's Survivors Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for improved seed, organic inputs and tractor rental which will allow them to escape subsistence farming by farming a larger area with a higher yield.

Zainab's Survivors Group's story

Zainab (1st on left), the featured borrower from Zainab's Survivors group, is a Master Farmer in Gbombsamba village. She supports a large family of 7 through her farming. She is a strong leader in the community, and regularly organizes women's activities and also helps train young up-and-coming female farmers.

Despite being a seasoned farmer, Zainab lost her business during the Ebola crisis as well as a family member. She refuses to give up despite loosing a lifetime of work, and organised a large group of other women who similarly had prospered before the crisis, lost everything but now will not give up.

All members are currently trapped in a cycle of subsistence and take extremely high-interest loans for poor quality inputs during planting time. A no-interest KIVA loan will therefore enable this group of determined women to get back on their feet and back in business.
