Chicken Spot Group's story

Margret is a hardworking lady aged 46. She resides in a newly developing suburb of Harare. She is a widow staying with one dependent.

Margret has a poultry business and has been in the business for many years. She also does brick molding to increase her household income. She has one employee who assists her in the operation of the brick molding business.

As the demand for both chickens and bricks increased, she had to source for additional funds so that she will be able to supply adequate stocks. She joined Thrive Microfinance with her friends who named their group Chicken Spot Group since all of them have poultry businesses.

They attended financial training at Thrive Microfinance where they were taught on the importance of savings and basic book-keeping so that they will be able to track their business income and expenses.

The Chicken Spot Group is now left with three members and they have applied for their second loan to boost their businesses. Margaret will use her loan to buy broilers and feeds to maintain the poultry business. Furthermore, she wants to buy cement to invest in the brick molding business.
