Santestgius Group's story

Marian is a veteran gardener with a strategically located plot near the Hunyani River, a place that makes her garden remain evergreen throughout the year. Marian says that the golden moments of her life are in her garden, mulching her vegetables and removing weeds while waiting for her grandchildren to come to help her water the vegetables.

She commenced this horticulture business around 1985, which qualifies her to be amongst the most experienced gardeners in her community. Many women come to her for lessons on how to grow healthy vegetables. Marian practises mulching to retain moisture and crop rotation, which keeps the soil in her garden very rich. Through her savings, Marian acquired a petrol engine and pipes for watering her plants so she can utilize her one hectare garden to full capacity.

Marian is happily married to a farmer and pensioner who also assists her in the business. Marian used her loan to buy more fertilizers and seeds.
