A loan helped to buy shoes.

Maria Elizabeth's story

The city of Portoviejo, known as the City of the Royal Tamarinds, was affected by the 16 April 2016 earthquake. It's located in the Portoviejo River Valley. The city is rich in the production of vegetables, legumes, and tropical fruit for domestic consumption.

María, 37, is the single mother of one child, 13, who attends school. She lives in the house of some relatives.

María still makes catalogue sales of a variety of brands of clothing and shoes. She works three days a week, two or three hours a day; she leaves the merchandise on credit and collects payment weekly. She has been in this line of work for several years. She also sells to her customers at home.

With this new loan she's going to buy shoes she has on order.

She likes the loans because of the biweekly payments. Her dream is to have her own house.
