Hadijah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to stock more women's clothes for her boutique.

Hadijah's story

Hadijah is 17 years old and lives in the town of Kisaasi in the Kireka region of Uganda. She is single and has one child. For the past two years, Hadijah has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells clothes.

To help expand her business, Hadijah has requested a loan of UGX 1,200,000 from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to stock more women's clothes for the boutique, and will help Hadijah to generate greater profits and expand her business, so that Hadijah will have more profits and work to improve her welfare and general standards of living. Hadijah hopes that in the future she will be able to to build her own house.

Hadijah is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
