Maria's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase women’s clothing to sell in her kiosk.

Maria's story

Maria has more than twenty years of retail experience selling women’s clothing. She is a technician by profession and worked at a crane-building factory until 1994, when she left and started her own business because the factory began to fall apart and many people were fired. At that time, Ukrainians could travel to Poland on an internal passport, and Maria did. She started selling children’s denim clothing. As travel to Poland became more difficult, Maria switched to selling women’s clothing, which few people did in Ukraine. At the moment the greatest demand is for plus-size clothing, as well as women’s suits, and jackets made from leatherette and nylon. Maria is very hardworking and works every day but Monday for six or seven hours. She has her own kiosk at the market. She built the kiosk with her own money. Maria needs 25,000 hryvnia to replenish her working capital and purchase women’s outerwear: down coats, jackets, warm sportswear, pants, and sweaters.
