A loan helped to buy a motor for her grinder and to buy more corn to increase the arepas production.

Martha Ligia's story

Martha is 31 years old and lives in the municipality of Medellin. She’s a divorced woman who has three children whom she loves very much. Her divorce process was one of the hardest things she has ever had to face in her life, but it also made her stronger and braver and that motivated her to start her own business, because she wanted the best for her children, regardless if she was alone or not.

She works making arepas, which are very traditional in Colombian cuisine and are made of corn; they are eaten in all regions and usually as breakfast or any meal companion. Martha dreams of buying a house where she can live with her children. She’s asking for a loan to buy a motor for her grinder and to buy more corn to increase the arepas production.
