A loan helped to expand hand loom business by making and selling more varieties of saris.

Jharna's story

Jharna, 32, is a resident of the Nadia district of West Bengal who wants to support her husband by making and selling saris. Her husband collects raw thread from the market, makes the thread into the finished material and fits them in a "tana," which is a part of the handloom machine to make saris.

Jharna has a household size of three and a monthly income of INR 8,000 and wishes to increase her monthly income. The loan amount of INR 20,000 from Gram Bikash Kendra, a field partner of Milaap, will help her to support her husband to make and sell more saris in the local market. With the loan amount, they can purchase more thread, needles and upgrade the tana machine. She is grateful to the lenders for this financial assistance.
