Joan's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy seeds and start horticulture farming so she has a a better income and pay for education for her children.

Joan's story

This is Joan, a zealous woman who is full of smiles. She hails from Ainamoi, a remote village in the Kericho area of Kenya.

She is a person who has experienced poverty first hand but she is striving to get out of that condition through practicing crop and animal farming. She is very hardworking and a go-getter.

Her primary sources of income are crops and animal farming. She also gets some income through a personal business. Joan is contented with the farming way of life.

Joan is a very enterprising woman, and although she never had formal education or formal employment, she has always worked hard on her farm and she has always assured her children a good education and family a decent meal. The Kericho area has favorable conditions for horticulture farming, and that is why she is seeking a loan to start horticulture farming.

Because of good roads, a good climate, and a good transportation network, she is sure that she will reap maximum profits and be able to increase her business.

Being a smallholder woman and accessing funds in Kericho is very challenging, but Joan feels relieved knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help woman, who like her, have vision.

As 2018 starts, Joan wants to start the year on a high note.

Please help Joan so that her horticulture farming can flourish!
