Fatmata's story

Meet 39-year-old Fatmata from Jui western rural area in Sierra Leone. She is married with 2 children aged 4 and 8 years. Both of them are currently attending school.

Fatmata runs a retail business and sells rice, cooking season, palm oil, oil, tomatoes, ketchup, baked beans, couscous, macaroni, butter and other items. She has been in this business for the past 5 years now and works 9 hours per day and 6 days a week. Fatmata says her business is going on well.

Fatmata requested this loan from BRAC to purchase more cooking season, tomatoes, ketchup, baked beans, couscous, macaroni, butter and other items. She says that the extra income from this loan will improve the life of her family and to pay her children’s school fees.

In the future she wants her business to expand into a big shop. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva community for their support.
