Josphine's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy certified and hybrid seeds to improve her horticulture farming and elevate her living standard, as well as educate her children through the profits generated.

Josphine's story

Josphine is an active woman who works in agricultural activities, a skill that she inherited from her parents. Josphine has been a very hardworking dairy farmer for the past five years. She also grows tomatoes, fruits, and vegetables. Through these activities, she has been able to earn a decent and honest income.

Josphine lives in a remote village in Kerugoya, the breadbasket area of Kenya. She is very passionate about farming and loves cultivating her farm. Although she makes profits from farming, she is not comfortable and has always wanted to increase her income. She is seeking a loan to buy certified seeds and fertilizers in order to improve her horticultural farm. With the loan, Josphine will be assured of a good harvest, and this will translate into more profits and income. She wants what any mother would want for her children, a bright future.

Unlike most microfinances in Kenya, that have imposed very complicated procedures in funds acquisition thereby discouraging smallholder farmers, Juhudi Kilimo is working closely with Kiva to make loan acquisition for a smallholder farmer easy and convenient. Through this, intervention movement of funds in the rural communities has increased, thereby alleviating rural poverty. Josphine feels inspired to continue farming and motivated to improve her life now that she is a member of Juhudi Kilimo. You can support Josphine in making her dreams come true with a loan.
