Lucy's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase farming inputs such as fertilizer and hybrid seeds and hire laborers to boost the quality of her produce, earn more profits, and elevate her living standards.

Lucy's story

Lucy (pictured in her simple house) is a hardworking woman and smallholder farmer who is a shining example to her community. She resides in a mud hut in the Chuka area of Kenya, where there is no electricity connection or water supply. Despite all of these adversities, she still smiles each day.

She started farming five years ago on a small plot she acquired. On the farm, she has dairy cows and a small garden. Filled with determination to better her family's conditions and not deterred by the difficulties she has encountered, Lucy has decided to expand her existing farm.

Lucy is seeking a KES 50,000 loan, which she will use to pay for farm inputs and to hire labor to grow more crops on the farm. It takes a lot for a smallholder farmer to risk limited resources to expand a farm business.

With your help, Lucy will be able to settle the high cost of farm inputs necessary for expansion. A significant portion of the profit will be plowed back into the business to fuel growth as she sets a good foundation for her children.
