A loan helped to purchase piglets to raise and resell.

Leonie's Group's story

Founded in June 2010, this borrowing group comprises eight businesswomen who are active in the trade of various products. The featured borrower is Dieudonne, who is pictured in the right of the photo with her hand raised. She is a 47-year-old single mother of six children -- five boys and one girl.

For several years, Dieudonne has earned a living raising and fattening piglets for resale. With this loan, she will buy a litter of 12 piglets, 35 cakes, and will also pay for some medical expenses. She will raise the piglets to maturity and then resell them for a profit. The profits she earns will allow her to pay for food, health care, and schooling for her children.
