A loan helped to pay for onions and peanut butter to resell.

Awa Seckou's Group's story

The 'banc villageois' to which this group of twenty women belongs was inaugurated in February 2001. The women are active mainly in the commerce of various goods.

Ms. Nafyssatou, who is at the right in the photo with a hand raised, is the group's representative. She is 44, married, and the mother of three children, including two girls. And she has been operating her business for several years.

With her new loan, she intends to pay for two sacks of onions and five pails of peanut butter she will resell at the local market. With the profits, she will help her husband to cover day-to-day expenses and to pay for the children’s schooling and healthcare.
