Xebe Pacoxom Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy two more cows so that she can expand her business and take care of her family, including the education of her children.

Xebe Pacoxom Group's story

Seven Maya K’iche ladies have joined together to form the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Xebe Pacoxom.” The majority of them have animal husbandry businesses. They are very excited to begin their first loan cycle with Kiva.

They meet monthly to make payments on their loans and to participate in educational training, part of the Microcredit Plus program of loans, education and healthcare. The educational sessions are designed by a facilitator who uses pictures, diagrams, role playing and games to share the information. Because the women have little or no formal education, they are eager to gain business tools like planning, budgeting, investing and saving. They also learn about everyday topics like nutrition, health and hygiene.

The president of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank is 49-year-old Maria, who is married with five children ranging in age from 8 to 19. Her children are all enrolled in school. Maria raises chickens, turkeys, pigs and cattle. She is requesting a loan to buy two more cows so that she can expand her business and take care of her family, including the education of her children. She wants them to have a complete education and successful careers.

These women would not be making progress in their lives if it weren’t for the kindness and generosity of Kiva investors partnering with Friendship Bridge. Thank you to each of you!
