Jefferson Alexander's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase seeds and naranjilla plants.

Jefferson Alexander's story

Jefferson is 47 and lives with his mother in the Lita parish, which belongs to the Imbabura province in the Ibarra area. Since a young age he has liked agriculture. His mother has a small plot of land where they plant. Jefferson never married or had children, so he works only for himself and his mother.

He dreams of seeing their land produce crops, so he dedicates a lot of time to it. It pleases him to plant and harvest. He wakes very early every morning to oversee the field by planting, cleaning, and tilling.

He is currently planting a small lot of naranjilla (a citrus fruit) and lemon. The production of naranjilla is very profitable.

Lita is an area where the majority of people grow naranjilla. However, the costs to start planting are very high and the time it takes to harvest is at least a year, so it is necessary to arrange the money.

With the loan given to him, he hopes to grow what he has planted, as well as plant another small lot. Jefferson is very grateful for the funding through Kiva and the support.
