but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped she needs to inject capital into the business and is requesting a loan to buy 1,000 chickens that she will sell for end-of-the-year parties.

Cuatro Caminos Group's story

“Cuatro Caminos” is the name that seven Maya K’iche ladies have given to their Friendship Bridge Trust Bank in the department/state of Quiche. They live in a rural area and have animal husbandry businesses raising chickens and cattle that they sell in their own community, as well as nearby ones. They are very excited to begin their first loan with Kiva. Because they have little or no formal education, they appreciate being able to learn at the monthly educational training of their Trust Bank. The ladies learn about an aspect of four main topics: business, health, family, women. These sessions are designed by a facilitator who speaks their own indigenous language and uses games, role playing, pictures and diagrams to share the information.

Maria, a 32-year-old single woman who lives with her parents, has no formal education. She is committed to contributing to the household and has a poultry business. She butchers the chickens and sells them by the pound in her local market. She needs to inject capital into the business and is requesting a loan to buy 1,000 chickens that she will sell for end-of-the-year parties.

Thank you, Kiva lenders, for extending a helping hand to Maria and her friends in the Trust Bank. They are able to create pathways out of poverty into a much brighter future because of your generosity and kindness!
