Madalena's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to increase her broiler chicken production so she can sell poultry to the community.

Madalena's story

Madalena, age 38, likes to work with animals and people. Besides being a nurse, she is one of the only women in her district who sells chickens. She has been fond of birds since an early age because her father had a business of raising and selling chickens.

She dreams of producing enough chickens to provide for the whole district so that she can help to reduce nutritional problems for people with low incomes. Madalena also plans to have a farm where she will raise large animals and plant crops to provide at the district level.

Her challenges include availability of inputs at local markets and financing to meet the demand of the community. She feels proud to be one of the only women to practice this activity in her community and a reference when it comes to broiler chicken breeding information at the district level.

With this loan, Madalena aims to grow her business, thereby helping her community with a greater local supply of quality chickens.
