Cristal Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to get the maintenance done on her coffee crop so that she can continue producing coffee and paying the expenses of her family.

Cristal Group's story

Ana is a 35 year old single mother of 2 children, whose work is cultivating coffee. She grows her coffee in 'Caravani,' a rural zone which produces citrus, coca, and coffee.

Ana and her children live in their own home (settled in the center.) The need to cover her children's expenses led her to form a group of farmers to apply for a loan and improve their businesses. Crops grown include bananas, achiote and coffee.

Ana grows coffee on land she inherited from her ancestors. The work is manual labor which she carries out herself. She trades at the local fair. As another activity she has a little neighborhood store. Her coffee crop consists of plants which are harvested over a number of years; they just need pruning, spraying and weeding. In order for her land to keep generating income, she needs helpers and insecticides.

Her advantage is she can sell her crop in her own store at both retail and wholesale. Her problem is the difficulty of maintaining her coffee plot. She dreams of having machinery to help her in her tasks; she would like to provide the necessary care for her land to keep producing. With this loan she will hire helpers and will buy insecticide. This will be her first loan from the institution in 10 years of growing coffee.

These are the reasons why Ana is requesting a loan, to get maintenance done on her coffee crop so she can continue producing coffee and paying expenses on behalf of her children.
