Las Margaritas De Patzicia Group's story

The group leader of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Las Margaritas de Patzicia,” located in a rural area in the department/state of Chimaltenango, is 42 year old Fidelia. She is married and the mother of 6 children who range in age from 5-19. As is the case with many women who participate in the “Microcredit Plus” program (loans, education, healthcare) of Friendship Bridge, Fidelia has no formal education. She learns a great deal at her monthly educational trainings about an aspect of 4 main topics: business, health, family, and women. Fidelia is requesting a loan to buy 1,000 chicks to fatten up and 7 pigs. She shares that the growing success of her business makes her feel good because she is able to give her children more opportunities to grow & succeed.

All of the indigenous ladies in this Trust Bank group have great hopes for a brighter future. They work hard at their traditional textile & handicraft businesses. Others raise chickens and pigs. They are most grateful to Kiva investors for providing the capital for their 3rd Kiva loan. The women are marching ahead, educating their children, and providing better nutrition and more food for their families. They wish Kiva investors a very Happy Holiday Season and a great New Year!
