Rugiatu's story

Meet 30 year old Rugiatu from Goderich branch. She is married with 2 children between the ages of 1 and 4 years old.

Rugiatu runs a retail shop business and sells mayonnaise, cocoa, milk, cigarettes, water, drinks, sugar, chewing gum, ketchup, biscuits, salt, onions, Maggie, ground nuts and other items. She has been in this business for the past 2 years now and works 9 hours per day and 6 days a week. Her main challenge is the increase in the prices of goods.

Rugiatu requested this loan from BRAC to purchase more mayonnaise, cocoa, milk, cigarettes, water, drinks, sugar, chewing gum, ketchup, biscuits, salt, onions, Maggie, ground nuts and other items. She says that the extra income from this loan has helped her to improve her standard of living and to pay her children's school fees. In the future, she wants her business to expand into a big shop. She says thanks to BRAC and the Kiva community for their support.
