Rachel's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped me to purchase new equipment, expand into a new location, and gain working capital for my massage studio.

Rachel's story

After a diagnosis of scoliosis as a child, I grew up with a deep understanding of back pain. I was also always interested in movement, and studied dance through my childhood and into my teens. I first studied massage in Thailand, becoming certified in Thai Massage at the WatPo School in Bangkok. I immediately realized the benefits and joy of working with my hands and working with people. I continued my education at the Swedish Institute, and became Licensed as a Massage Therapist. I remember walking out of the NY State Board Exam and crying my eyes out - I knew with certainty that I had passed, and that I would always have a skill to use, and never need to wait tables again. I started my massage practice out of one small room in 2008 with the intention of combining a medical based massage practice with the relaxing environment of a healing space. My motto is “Delicious Pain, Not Scary Pain”. I've since grown that studio to 9 treatment rooms, and opened the second location with eight more rooms last August (so far so good!) I also help individuals working in the wellness field to grow their practices through business coaching, mentorship, and teaching workshops on business. I hold monthly women's entrepreneurial meetings in my home to support women business owners. I love building things, creative problem solving, and helping others. Owning my business has taught me about my own resilience and resourcefulness, and for that I am so incredibly grateful.
