Kortoe's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy more oil, salt, pepper, rice, and bitter ball to sell.

Kortoe's story

Kortoe is 48 years old. She is a single mother with four children. All of Kortoe's children are in school, and three live at home. Kortoe is a high school graduate.

Kortoe runs a business where she sells oil, salt, pepper, rice, and bitter ball (an eggplant-like vegetable) in the general market. She started this business with her own money and also learned how to sell by herself. For the past 14 years, she has been involved in this business, and she sells goods six days per week and 11 hours per day. She likes her business because sales are profitable. However, Kortoe says at times the U.S. rate is very hard on the market, and for this reason, the prices increase.

To excel in business, she applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, one of Kiva's field partners. She will use this financing to buy more oil, salt, pepper, rice, and bitter ball to sell. In the future, she wants to grow her business and continue her children's education. She is highly grateful for the financial support BRAC and Kiva have rendered.
