Carmen Elizabeth's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fabric and thread, and to do maintenance on the machines.

Carmen Elizabeth's story

In Guale, in the cantón Jipijapa, the principal product is rice, for production and sale. The typical food includes rice with vegetable stew and carne asada, corn tortillas, tamales, corn cakes, fish balls, pork, and roast beef.

Carmen is 47 years old and separated. She has two children, one who is grown and independent, and the other, age 9, who attends school. They live in a rented house.

Taking advantage of her skill in sewing and dressmaking, Carmen set up a small sewing workshop in her house. There she makes all types of clothing, for women, men, and children, although she admits that what she most enjoys is making clothing for women or children; there are more designs and she learns more with these. She works based upon individuals' orders. She works every day from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and sometimes even later when she has orders to deliver.

With this new loan, she will buy fabric and thread, and have maintenance done on the machines that she has. She likes the loans because the payments are biweekly. Her dream is to have her own house.
