A loan helped to buy a quality dairy cow.

Elosy's story

Elosy is just 44 years old and lives in the Chuka area of Kenya. She has lovely children whom she loves very much. Life hasn’t been easy for this zealous mother, but she’s a fighter who is committed to providing a good future to her children.

Elosy is the proud owner of a small parcel of land on which she has been practicing mixed farming for the past 10 years. Her primary source of income is selling eggs and milk, which provides a decent income. Elosy passionately loves dairy farming, and taking care of her cows gives her great joy. Although this humble mother has been making profits by selling milk to her neighbors and the local market, she strugglrd to meet the demand. Through word of mouth, customers have been flocking to her farm for milk.

Elosy is seeking a loan to buy a quality dairy cow that will produce milk that is high in nutrients. With the loan, she will buy a dairy cow that will produce between 10 and 20 litres of milk a day. This will help to fully satisfy the demand.

Through Juhudi Kilimo, a Kiva field partner, she attended training sessions and was taught the best financial management skills. This will help her save more money, repay the loan fully and, improve her living conditions.
