A loan helped me purchase bulk supplies and merchandise and centralize e-commerce to aid the growth of my business.
Born in West Africa, to a Yoruba father and a Jamaican mother, my childhood was culturally rich. Receiving higher education was not optional (I completed my Masters in Fine Arts and Bachelors in Electrical Engineering). What was expected after graduation, however, was to work for someone else; that never sat well with me even with the various jobs I had as a teen. What excited me, I've come to realize, is being an entrepreneur, my own boss. Building a family legacy and creating a business that is successful and sustainable is of utmost importance to me. I am the mother and primary care giver of two children. One of my children experienced brain injury as a newborn (17 years ago) and I chose to forego a high-status engineering career and raise my children while building my business, Ancient Henna and persisting in the fine arts arena (going to graduate school for my masters in fine arts degree with two young children in tow) . I have been married and divorced and now see the time as ripe to persist and prosper. My goal is to build Ancient Henna into an extremely successful company and show that entrepreneurial success is attainable regardless of ones challenges on ones life journey.
