A loan helped to purchase fish to process and sell.
Luisa María's story
Luisa is a 42-year old mother who lives with her husband and four children 25 minutes from the city of Chiclayo, in the Santa Rosa district. Her husband works from time to time as a fisherman, and since it is difficult to support a family with this activity, Luisa decided five years ago to support the family finances with a business selling fresh fish. She started to sell fish in the streets, and little by little her business grew. Now she sells in the towns of the region that don't have access to the sea and sporadically she also sells in the city of Tumbes, which is six hours from the city of Chiclayo. Generally when she travels to Tumbes she distributes some advance orders, but the majority of times she sells in the area market. She goes to purchase merchandise in the district fisheries terminal two or three times per week; she also sells salted dried fish that are processed there. Currently her children are about to finish school. Luisa would like to provide them with the opportunity to study in a university, but the income that her business generates is not sufficient to achieve this desire. For this reason she is planning on expanding her business with the purchase of more fish to process and sell, financed by a loan from Edpyme Alternativa for 2000 nuevos soles. She wishes to continue working with her husband so that they can buy an automobile and to use it to transport passengers in a transportation business that covers the Chiclayo-Santa Rosa route. Luisa has worked with Edpyme Alternativa on other opportunities and in all of them she has demonstrated responsibility and punctuality in her payments, and for this reason she is considered to be an excellent client.
