Shabana's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped me buy inventory to fulfill catering orders for the upcoming holiday season.

Shabana's story

My name is Shabana and I stay with my two children aged 15 and 14 years. I am originally from Pakistan and got married at the age of 17. The first three years of my marriage were blissful since I gave birth to two sons. However, after that, both my sons and I have had to endure 15 years of violence and torture by my husband and his family. There were times when my husband did not provide us with food and we didn’t even have enough to clothe ourselves. In 2014, I decided that I could not stay with my husband anymore. I am not very educated and also do not speak English. Working outside my home was not an option for me. That is when I decided to convert my passion for cooking into a business so that I could support my children. I run my small business under the name of Shabana’s Kitchen. I receive orders for a wide variety of cuisines for house parties, festivals etc. Having been tormented by my husband and his family, I had lost all my confidence. Running my own business has given me a sense of self-esteem and I plan on further expanding it.
