Zebra Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a water pump to water her one-acre garden and to buy seeds to plant in her garden.

Zebra Group's story

Leticia is a 58-year-old grandmother of five who has dedicated her life to gardening. It is impossible to separate her from her garden. She is married and her husband is unemployed, but he helps with watering the garden. Leticia and her family all reside in a village 65 km from Harare.

On her one-acre garden, Leticia mainly plants vegetables, onions and potatoes. Each day, she makes quality time, which she uses to water and monitor her garden. Everyone in her village testifies to her hard work. She has dug her own borehole, which she uses for watering the garden. However, the challenge is that she manually dips a bucket and pulls it out, then has to carry the bucket of water to her plants to water them. As much as this has been working for her, she is now feeling pain in her shoulders and exhaustion most of the time.

The need for a water pump led her to approach Thrive with three other women. She is using her portion of the loan to buy a water pump, which costs $150, and with the remainder of the loan, she is buying seeds to plant in her garden.
